Couple Creates Buzz With Divorce Photoshoot

Couples take engagement photos all of the time. These photoshoots are thought by many to just be a standard part of getting married. But getting divorced? One couple recently turned the tradition on its head by having a divorce photoshoot, as well.

The pictures are simple, but they mirror some of the cute vibe of traditional engagement photos. The woman is kneeling on one side, holding a small chalkboard, in a traditional proposal stance. On her chalkboard are the words “Will you divorce me?” Her husband leans against a wall nearby with a chalkboard of his own. On his, it just says “YES!”

When asked about the idea, the couple said that they did not think that staying married just because they had children was the best thing for those children. That’s why they opted to get divorced, and that’s why they were so casual about it. They know they’re still going to be involved with one another as they co-parent their kids, but that does not mean they have to stay married. They wanted to do what was best for the children and felt that being single and co-parenting was the best option.

That said, it’s clear why the pictures caused a stir on social media. They’re uncommon. They also help to show just how much opinions about divorce have changed over the years. People certainly do not always view it the way that they used to.

If you are getting divorced, even if you’re not being quite so public about it, just be sure you are well aware of the legal options that you have.
